Glitter Guilty Pleasures Subscription Box: October 2013 Photos & Review

Today I have a subscription box I just purchased from Glitter Guilty. I love sub boxes, so when I heard about this one I immediately signed up for 3 months! You can read more about how Glitter Guilty's sub box works here. I loved that Jessica, the owner and operator, is an indie maker and includes treats from other small artisans. I also loved how I could customize my box and still have it be a surprise! I did not put in too many directives in my preferences but Jessica nailed it, I am in love with her selections for me.

This post is picture-heavy. I opened my box in stages and took pictures so you could see how lovely it really is.

It felt like opening a present!

Love the fall colors

This month's treat was a chocolate-covered Oreo and a graham cracker with fall confections. I am a bad blogger... it came with the confectioner's information, but I ate them already and tossed the packaging. They were really well made and delicious!
My custom polish was a full-sized color call "Sea Creature" and the monthly mini is called "Something Wicked."

Glitter Guilty Sea Creature is a beautiful turquoise jelly with an assortment of glitters in holographic, iridescent, and teal finishes. I see squares, hexes, and some microglitter!

I used three thin coats of Sea Creature over one coat of Morgan Taylor Lost In Paradise. Jellies and I have a love-hate relationship. I love them, but I like them more opaque and I've only just perfected my application technique. For me I find doing very thin coats and adding thinner in between coats helps.

I didn't edit the color in my photos so I'm looking a little lobster-y, but the iridescent glitters are to die for and remind me of the Caribbean!

I had to mattify it with Essie Matte About You. UGH it is perfect!

The mini bottle for October is Something Wicked. It is a blackened purple jelly with purple shimmer, with purple, green, and yellow-green holographic hexes.

I wasn't sure how opaque this was going to be so I used some undies. China Glaze Grape Pop is on the index and ring finger, then China Glaze Liquid Leather on the pinky and middle finger.

The undies make only a slight difference in the polish, but I think the amazing purple shimmer really comes out over the black creme.

And of course I had to mattify it with Essie Matte About You.

I purchased my own boxes (I have ones coming for November and December, too). One month costs $15.99 including shipping, which I think is an incredible deal. Jessica included a little note in this box announcing that she is expecting (congratulations!), so she will be sending out a smaller pool of customs. However she will let subscribers choose a specific polish from her store and she will also be including extra little bonuses as a thank you in the coming months. How sweet is that?

If you do subscribe (you can subscribe here) please consider listing me in your referral (you can use Shelby Lou Nails). For every two people who subscribe to a second month a "thank you" package is sent to the referral source. I'd love to be able to share more Glitter Guilty polish swatches!

So what do you think, will you be picking up a Glitter guilty sub box?
And last but not least, have you loved your cuticles today?

  1. Gorgeous! I have not loved my cuticles today. I actually pulled on them and made one bleed. I know, I know...it's a nervous thing so I can't help it.

  2. Thanks! And that's okay... last week I went to clip a hang nail and went a little overboard with my cuticle nippers haha
