A Box, Indied: February 2014

So I just found out I have jury duty AGAIN. Seriously, I am 27 and this is my third subpoena are you really f-ing kidding me? You might be asking, how can you have been called three times because I thought it was only every seven years? Well let me explain, there is an extra-stupid bull-crap court you can get called for in between regular jury duty, I think it's federal or something. All I know is I had to be on-call last summer for three months. Screw you, Justice, I don't have time for this. Anyway, I need to stop before I give myself an aneurysm.

How about some swatches? February's A Box, Indied from Llarowe was prety epic. Here's some quick swatches.

Dance Legend Termo TRIO #1

Sorry about my unexpected absence this weekend. On Saturday and Sunday I was ill. I did a little swatching but didn't feel like sitting down at the computer. So I kinda laid on the couch and may or may not have binge-watched the Harry Potter boxed set my mom just got. They were okay, the books will always be my favorite though.

Last Friday I went with my mom to the nearby botanical gardens. It was like summer and a completely wonderful respite from the mid-winter doldrums of February (seriously, Winter, I am done). I need something quick but also wanted something fun so I wore Dance Legend Termo Trio #1. I lemmed this so hard when it came out and I was pumped to see the color change really did happen just as advertised! Here is a picture I took in a fountain at the gardens.

Jindie Nails Love Conquers All

I am not ready to give up Valentine's manis. I figure if it's February it's time for pink, red, and hearts! I have a really interesting Valentine's polish today from Jindie Nails called Love Conquers All. It is limited edition... and I mean come on, can I really not buy an LE? It made an appearance last year and it back for another run--I love second chance LEs!

Love Conquers All is a white crelly base with all sorts of satin and matte glitter goodness. And also: hearts! I went a little nuts placing the hearts on my left hand because I wanted to be able to show you all the different colors in here. I see lavender, sky blue, blue-toned red, orange-leaning red, light pink, salmon, black, and white. I love how unexpected and yet perfect for the holiday it is.

I decided to pull the blue out of the glitters for my accent nail and used OPI What's With The Cat-itude? The image is from Vivid Lacquer 001 stamped with Konad Special White. I only redid this accent 3 times hahaha! I topped the accent with HK Girl.

I used my patented (ok not technically) method of applying crellies by using a thin basecoat (Essie Marshmallow) and very thin coats of the crelly over that.  I made sure to dab a few hearts in between each thin coat for varying coverage. There are a ton of hearts available and fishing for all the colors was super easy. For my other hand I only did two to three hearts per nail. For the longest time I was using a white creme for a base but it really takes away from the crelly appearance. I like the look with the sheer white much better. I topped Love Conquers All off with two thick coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

There are still a few Love Conquers All left in stock, grab yours now!

KBShimmer Falling For Hue & Whole Lava Lovin'

I'm sticking with the Valentine's theme this weekend! Todays mani features KBShimmer polishes. I love me some KBShimmer. I own entirely too many at this point but every time the new stuff comes out I can't control myself. I did skip the black and neon pink glitter topper, U Rock My Heart, but if I see it on a blog sale I'll probably snag it hehe.

Here is Falling For Hue with an accent of Whole Lava Lovin'. I painted some studs white with Cult Nails Tempest for the accent mail. I used two thick coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Falling For Hue & Whole Lava Lovin'

Falling For Hue is a white crelly with red, pink, and fuchsia metallic glitters. No placement crelly, woo! I used one thin basecoat of Essie Marshmallow.
Whole Lava Lovin' is described as an "intense cherry red" but I see more pink in real life (see lower photo). It has a jelly-like finish and the holo is awesomely intense.
Clearly On Top is a great thick topcoat... it's better than Seche to me and only $5 a bottle.

I got a lot of compliments on this mani. So far I have been alright with wearing some of my creations to work. Even some patients notice, and the older ladies especially get a kick out of it!

I think I might stick with the Valentine's colors and themes for next week, too. So many polishes, so little time...

Happy Valentine's... weekend? With Love, Angeline

I am using the weekend for my Valentine's Day manis because I am a failure during the week. What did my husband and I do for Valentine's Day? Ordered in and watched House Of Cards. Anyone a fan here? All I have to say is WTFFF HOUSE OF CARDS.

I digress, on to the polish!

Love, Angeline is a lovely indie polish company that turned just one year old on Valentine's Day. She is having a Birthday-Versary celebration so make sure you check out her facebook page for all kinds of promos. A new blogger collection was just released plus all the classics are available.

Love, Angeline
Pass Me The Sweet Hearts

Here is Love, Angeline Pass Me The Sweet Hearts, a white jelly with pastel glitters and hearts. I did some placing with a couple of the hearts but for the most part this is how it comes out of the bottle. I did a thin basecoat of Essie Marshmallow and two coats PMTSH. Accent nail is OPI Pink Friday with a couple white studs. I topped the whole thing off with two thick coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

PMTSH is so delicate and perfect. Love, Angeline's formula is to die for--I've already collected a few of her jellies and I can't get enough. Polish-making is an art and some indies just have it down from the very beginning. I expect big things from Love, Angeline!

Lucki's Mani

Last week Thursday my mother-in-law had to make the terrible decision to put their beloved family dog, Lucki, to sleep. That was harder to type than I thought. I have known Lucki since I first met my husband's family in 2005. She was found abandoned by a dumpster and rescued by Mama G (this is how I think of my mother-in-law in my head). As with most rescues, Lucki rescued her family right back. She was what I call a "dog dog" which I guess means she was all the things a great dog should be--loyal, affectionate, playful, intelligent, protective, loving, silly... I could go on and on. Everyone, especially Mama G,  is devastated. Lucki was 13 years old and still the happy-go-lucky (no pun intended) wonderful dog she was right up to the appointment last Saturday morning.
Maybe some people would think it's weird to do a tribute mani. I know you nail gals will understand.

Lucki's Mani
Yes, the prints may not be dog prints, but you understand the sentiment

Lucki a couple months ago. She was very sick but not in pain.

Lucki loved being the center of attention, walks, and treats. Whenever you came in the house you had to give her a treat. If two people came in she expected two treats, but it was okay if they came from the same person. I remember her barking when I was hugging my husband (then boyfriend) and she barked like crazy! Maybe she knew I was stealing him away.

You are loved and missed Lucki. I hope you have a football to tear apart, bunnies to chase, and a comfy couch in Heaven.

Elevation Polish Malaspina Glacier

I wore this polish early last week. I thought it was the perfect time since we got hit by a ton of snow once again. This winter has been brutal.

Elevation Polish Malaspina Glacier is a Llarowe exclusive and I'm so glad I stalked it! It is a lovely jelly-like turquoise with charcoal flakes and blue shimmer. It's a bit dusty, which I love. I think the pictures speak for themselves.
