Mardi Gras: A Box, Indied for March 2014

March's edition of A Box, Indied was EPIC. It included four polishes inspired by Mardi Gras and I love them all to death. There are a lot of swatches so I'll get right to it!

Contrary Polish Bal Masque is an indigo jelly with green & gold shimmer. My swatch shows three coats. It is a little jelly-like to show off the shimmer but builds up like a creme.

I really appreciate that the base is not bright purple. It's a subtle nod to the theme and exactly what I love about Contrary Polish. I also received several compliments from nuggles (non-polish folk, I am coining this word now).

Hare Polish Phat Tuesday is a deep purple jelly with lime & yellow gold glitters in assorted shapes, sizes, and finishes. You know I love Hare and this is no exception! Hares can be tricky to apply, it takes patience and practice.

Hare Polish Phat Tuesday
For my swatch I started with a thin first coat, a second thin coat with a little more glitter, and a last thicker coat to finish it off. I used two thick coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top for a smooth finish. Let each coat dry really really well to avoid aggravation with smudging later. Trust me. What you do for love!

CrowsToes Bad Catholic is a glitter bomb in purple, green, and yellow glitters in metallic and holographic finishes. There is so. much. glitter. This is one coat with a little dabbing to fill in any more bare spots... of which there were few! Two thick coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top for a smooth finish.

CrowsToes Bad Catholic
First of all this polish deserves ten points for the name alone! Second, this is so festive and fun. I showed it over Sinful Colors Daisy Daze (3 coats) to show off the glitters, but this would look great over just about any purple, green, yellow, gold, blue, black, white... endless options.

Girly Bits Flash Your Tips is a purple linear holographic polish with green & gold shimmer. I used 3 coats in my swatch. Oh. My. Gawd.

Just look at it! The shimmer is out of this world!

Girly Bits Flash Your Tips
Girly Bits is a new-to-me brand (I know, I must be a communist or something) but Flash Your Tips is single-handedly responsible for making me a new fan. When I put it on in the evening I received my box, I admired it constantly and shoved it in my husband's face several times ("Wow, that's really cool!" was his response). The next day when I had a break at work I promptly logged in to the Girly Bits website and ordered, ummm, several holographic Girly Bits. I bet I had a maniacal glint in my eye--must have more holo shimmah!

I have already seen how in demand these four beauties are. If you ever see any up on a blog sale don't think, just whip out your credit card and immediately throw it at the computer screen. The last couple boxes have been great, I hope April's box can live up to this streak!
